Leicester lose at Luton as Marshall strikes after Cullen’s late equaliser
Ten-man Leicester City lost 2-1 at Luton after Liam Cullen’s 90th-minute equaliser was cancelled out by substitute Callum Marshall.
Leicester City were denied a point at Kenilworth Road on Sunday 25 October as Luton substitute Callum Marshall scored in stoppage time to seal a 2-1 League One defeat.
Liam Cullen had levelled in the 90th minute, shortly after John Lundstram’s dismissal left the Foxes with 10 men. But Marshall struck three minutes into the seven added on, according to Luton Today.
Kal Naismith released Emilio Lawrence, whose cross took a deflection into the six-yard box. Marshall met it to finish from close range, giving Luton successive wins for the first time this season.
Late equaliser undone
Leicester had fallen behind in the 39th minute. Jordan Clark won possession from Caleb Okoli and set up Wells, who scored his eighth goal of the season.
Earlier, Emil Riis had put the ball over the line after James Shea tipped away Will Alves’ cross-shot and Kamari Doyle sent it back towards goal. The effort was initially awarded before referee Martin Woods consulted his assistant and ruled Riis offside.
Alex McCarthy kept Leicester in contention with several first-half saves, denying Tudor Mendel, Clark, Kasey Palmer and Wells. At the other end, Shea stopped Doyle’s effort.
City threatened again after the break, with Shea keeping out Conor Chaplin’s header in the 78th minute. Luke Thomas later had a shot blocked by Jake Richards.
Lundstram received his second booking in the 85th minute for a challenge on Izzy Jones. Despite that setback, Riis provided the knockdown for Cullen to curl in an equaliser from outside the box, before Marshall settled the match.
