2. Principles
We only process personal data where this is needed to run the website, publish our content and reply to your enquiries. There are no user accounts, and we do not use audience measurement or advertising tools.
3. Hosting and server logs
The website is hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany, which processes data on our behalf. Each visit records, for technical reasons, your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page, your browser and the response code. This data is used to deliver the website, keep it secure and find errors. The legal basis is our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR). Logs are deleted within 14 days unless they are needed for longer to investigate a security incident.
4. Cloudflare
To deliver the website quickly and protect it from attacks, we use the network of Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, United States. Your requests pass through Cloudflare servers, which process connection data such as your IP address. Data may be transferred to the United States; Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running the website securely and reliably (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR).
5. Cookies
We do not set analytics or advertising cookies. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary cookies to detect automated traffic. These are essential for the website to work and do not require consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
6. Contact by email and contact form
When you write to us, we process your name, email address and message in order to reply. Messages sent through the form are forwarded to our internal enquiry system. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) UK GDPR where your enquiry relates to a contract, and otherwise our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)). We delete the data once your enquiry has been dealt with, unless the law requires us to keep it.
7. Maps
Maps only load when you click the button to show them. Only then is your IP address sent to the provider: for the map of a single place to Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (Google Maps), and for overview maps to the OpenStreetMap Foundation, St John’s Innovation Centre, Cowley Road, Cambridge, CB4 0WS, United Kingdom, which provides the map tiles. The legal basis is your consent, given by clicking (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR).
8. External links and partner offers
Our articles link to third-party websites. Some links lead to partner offers and are labelled as advertising. These third parties only receive data if you click such a link; from then on, their own privacy policy applies.
9. Fonts
The fonts on this website are loaded from our own server.
10. Your rights
You have the right of access (Article 15), rectification (Article 16), erasure (Article 17), restriction of processing (Article 18), data portability (Article 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Article 21). You can withdraw your consent at any time without affecting earlier processing (Article 7(3)). To exercise these rights, email us at [email protected].
