Leicester event organisers can apply for share of £230,000 council fund

Leicester organisations planning festivals or events can apply for council grants covering up to half their costs, with applications due by Thursday 31 December 2026.

A total of £230,000 is available in the second funding round, Leicester Media Online reports. Applicants must be legally constituted organisations based in Leicester. Individual grants range from £2,500 to £25,000.

The city council programme, launched in May, supports events that contribute to Leicester’s cultural life. Organisations seeking funding need to complete an application form, available with further details on the city council’s website.

Graham Callister, the council’s head of festivals, events and cultural policy, said the council wanted to support events developed with communities that use public spaces and showcase local talent, diversity and creativity.

Recipients in the first round included Leicester Pride, Journeys Festival International, Leicester Mela and Cosmopolitan Arts Festival. Those events sit alongside the council’s own programme, which includes Riverside Festival, the Christmas lights switch-on and Old Town Festival.
