Large cordon remains after Ellistown house fire spreads through two roofs

A large cordon remains on Ibstock Road in Ellistown after a house fire spread into a neighbouring property, according to Leicester Mercury. A substantial emergency services presence remains at the scene.

Drivers were asked to use alternative routes, while people living nearby were advised to shut windows and doors because of smoke. Leicestershire Police issued its travel warning at 1.25pm on Sunday 25 October.

Emergency services were called at 11.48am that day to the village near Coalville. Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze began in a loft and spread through the roof spaces of two semi-detached homes.

The response grew rapidly from two crews to five fire engines, supported by an aerial ladder platform. An air ambulance also attended; details of any injuries were unknown at that stage.
