IDE Systems joins Space Park Leicester with plans for engineering partnerships

Engineering businesses and researchers at Space Park Leicester have a new potential partner in IDE Systems, which has joined the community to develop joint projects and links with emerging talent.

East Midlands Business Link reports that the growing firm specialises in engineering complex systems and checking their safety and reliability. Its other capabilities include data science, cyber security, and electrical, control and instrumentation work.

The company brings experience from industries subject to strict regulation and where safety is critical to the University of Leicester’s £100m research, teaching and space innovation hub.

Claire Deans, IDE Systems’ chief operating officer, said the firm wanted to combine its expertise with that of other residents and academic partners, with a view to tackling complex challenges and pursuing larger engineering programmes.

Collaboration was central to the decision, but a visit also provided a less conventional attraction: managing director Ian Hobson was able to handle a piece of Moon rock.

Vinay Patel, Space Park Leicester’s head of commercial and innovation, welcomed the company’s expertise. He said the hub brought businesses, researchers and talented people together who might otherwise not work alongside each other.
